Important Creightons – Tourist Rd Intersection update
Works to reconfigure roadmarkings at this notorious interaction will take place overnight on Sunday 30 April, from 9pm to 5am.
Please find attached a simple drawing illustrating the new markings and signs.
The priority control will largely be consistent with how the intersection used to be operating which should be familiar to road users. Tourist Road traffic will be required to give way to all other movements as Tourist Road is marked as a Stop control. Traffic on Papakura-Clevedon Road and Creightons Road will follow the standard intersection give-way rule as specified in the road code.
Vegetation on the adjacent property will also be pruned to improve viewshafts.
Auckland Transport will then undertake a period of monitoring and evaluation to ensure the intersection is working as anticipated.

“This scheme is a short term measure to address safety concerns raised by road users, with a long term solution being subject to both funding and priority challenges. The long term solution will require major physical works and may also require land acquisition, meaning that it is several years away from those works starting,” says AT.
